Square Enix is temporarily halting digital sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, as high player numbers are destabilising servers.
In a Facebook Post the company announced that the "overwhelmingly positive response" means "we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play.
"As a temporary measure," it continues, "we will halt sales of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days."
It's an issue we've highlighted in our ongoing review-in-progress of the revamped game, and it's good to see that Square Enix is putting player experience first. Such a move isn't unprecedented: this time last year, Guild Wars 2 was forced to do the same thing.
So if you're stuck waiting for sales to be unlocked again, or if you're just trapped in a login queue, why not kill time by reading our launch guide for A Realm Reborn, which contains everything you need to get started, and be sure to check back to IGN in the coming days for our full review.
