Love it or hate it, one of the bigger talking points regarding this summer's Iron Man 3 has been Shane Black's daring interpretation of The Mandarin. Now, storyboard artist Federico D'Alessandro has uploaded some of his Iron Man 3 animatics, revealing an alternate fate for Ben Kingsley's spirited villain.
Naturally, MAJOR SPOILERS to follow...
In the original ending, Kingsley's Trevor Slattery is hauled off to jail after he's busted for posing as the notorious villain (who we learn is actually masterminded by Guy Pearce's Aldrich Killian). However, in this alternate finale sequence, Trevor's character goes out with more of a bang. Check out the video below:
D'Alessandro also posted a few other animatics from the finale on his site, including one where Rhodey runs like hell and another where Tony fights Killian -- both of which feature slight variations of what eventually made the final cut:
Iron Man 3 comes home with an early debut in HD Digital (also available in 3D) on September 3. This will be followed by a 3D Super Set, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital Copy and On Demand release on September 24.
