Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention. OmNomster – (Free)
The OmNomster is an insatiably hungry beast that must relentlessly gorge itself on garbage – with your wrist-shaking help:
Super Brothers – (Free)
Not to be confused with the excellent Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP, this Super Brothers (note the space in the name) is a pixelish platformer taking a page or two out of the Super Mario Bros. playbook.
Ice Cream Cats – (Free)
A new take on the classic "control the flow of some kind of fluid by fitting pipe sections together" puzzle design.
The Curse – (Free)
In a rare aligning of the App Store planets, all three of our Game Debuts today have gone on sale in the Store for zero dollars – meaning we've got more free options than usual. For today's offical Freebie selection, though, we've got The Curse. Fans of puzzle-packed games like Professor Layton should give it a look, as it's full of similar brainteasers.
Combo Crew – ($0.99)
This fresh beat-'em-up debuted three months ago and made an impact by pulling the best elements from classics like Streets of Rage and pushing them into modern mobile gaming. Today, it's half off its normal asking price.
And, interestingly, the creators of Combo Crew today announced a surprising new character coming to the game – Capcom's Viewtiful Joe! How did they make that one happen, I wonder? He isn't playable yet, but he's coming in a future update – so maybe it'd be wise to go ahead and grab the game now while it's cheap, and be ready to say "Henshin-a-go-go!" when he makes his arrival later on.
Stratego – ($0.99)
And rounding out the day is a drastic Price Drop for Stratego on iPad, as it's down to under a buck from its normal level of $6.99.
That’s it for today! Email subscriptions to the App Store Update are still just one sign-up away, right here:
