Dead Rising 3, Forza 5, and Ryse Get Special 'Day One Editions'

Microsoft has announced the contents of special launch versions of certain Xbox One games that will be available alongside the console later this year.

So far, the company has revealed that these special versions, dubbed Day One Editions, will be available for Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, and Ryse: Son of Rome. Each is said to be only available through retail pre-order while supplies last or with digital copies purchased from Xbox Live during the first two weeks following launch.

Forza's Day One Edition includes three cars, complete with a Day One livery and a custom tuning package. The cars are the 2010 Audi TT RS Coupe, the 2013 Ford Focus ST, and 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera.

For Dead Rising 3, players will gain access to Frank West and Chuck Greene outfits, those two characters being the protagonists from the previous Dead Rising games. Frank's outfit comes with his Zombie Slugger weapon (a barbed wire bat complete with "extra gory attacks"), a custom skill move, and attribute bonuses for increased melee damage and tougher survivors. Chuck's outfit comes with the Paddle Saw combo weapon (a paddle with chainsaws on either end with increased damage and durability) and attribute perks allowing for enhanced durability on weapons and vehicles.

Ryse consists of the Legionnaire's Trust Exclusive Sword and the co-op map "Ruins" for use in Gladiator Mode. Players who buy the Day One Edition of Ryse will be able to invite owners of the game's standard edition to play the Ruins map.

These sorts of bonuses for early adopters of a game aren't a new invention for next-gen; we've seen a number of current-gen games do the same thing, such as the recently released Saints Row IV with its Commander in Chief Edition.

A release date for the Xbox One has still yet to be announced, but stay tuned to IGN for the latest on Xbox One as we approach its release sometime later this year.
