Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer recently admitted to less than stellar sales of the Surface RT and Windows mobile devices. And after lowering the asking price of the Surface RT by $150, the company has announced a new idea to turn consumers away from Apple's tablet: give Microsoft your iPad.
Until October 27, you can bring in your "gently used" iPad 2 or later to participating Microsoft stores and receive a "minimum" of $200 in store credit. The fine print says the gift card value will be equal to trade-in value, subject to "manager approval." Unfortunately, the deal is not available online, so you'll have to find a Microsoft store.
A recent rumor suggests the Surface Pro 2 may include a Haswell processor and 8GB of RAM. Ballmer recently announced his impending retirement from Microsoft, shortly after it was revealed the company lost $900 million on the Surface RT.
