There are several really, really awesome scenes in Daredevil #31. The best moment, however, comes in the opening pages. We get two pages featuring Foggy Nelson that are more interesting, emotional, and complex than almost any superhero comic book on the stands today. The exciting Daredevil action that comes after is just gravy, an added bonus to the stellar opening pages. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Daredevil is a comic book that you should be reading. It doesn't get much better than this.
Mark Waid and Chris Samnee are storytellers supreme. This issue (and the ones before it) is the result of a creative team that is perfectly locked in. These dudes get it and they show that month after month. Waid's razor-sharp dialogue and Samnee's gorgeous artwork demand your attention, no doubt, but it's more than that. There's a heart here, a sense of character that few superhero comics achieve. Glorious stuff from two of the best talents working in the biz today.
Of course, Waid and Samnee don't do Daredevil all by themselves and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the awesome work of some of the other creators. Javier Rodriguez gives us a masterclass in coloring. His sold style fits in wonderfully with Samnee's art; it becomes a part of the story instead of sitting on top of it. Letterer Joe Caramagna does some magic here, as well. This is a dialogue heavy issue, but it never feels overdone or intrusive. Caramagna blends the balloons and words into the comic, giving it a fluid, smooth look. Daredevil #31 is how comic books should be done, in just about every aspect.
