MacBook, iMac, and Mac Pro owners could be getting their hands on OS X Mavericks, the latest version of Apple's traditional computer operating system, by the end of October. 9to5Mac reports that while some have speculated that OS X Mavericks will launch alongside iOS 7 this month, Apple purportedly planned a later release date for the desktop OS so its engineering team could concentrate on the new iPhone operating system.
Apple previously launched OS X Lion and OS X Mountain Lion immediately following a financial earnings report. The company's next earnings report is expected to occur during the second half of October, so it's entirely possible that Apple follows the trend by releasing OS X Mavericks around the same time.
Announced earlier this year at WWDC, OS X Mavericks brings with it a number of new software features, including tabs in Finder, document tagging, multiple display support, and improved Notifications.
Apple will be unveiling at least one new iPhone at an event next week, where we may also hear more about OS X Maverick's official launch.
