It's been almost a year since Star Wars: Episode VII was announced, and we still haven't heard any official casting info. But -- we're definitely close...
Latino-Review's El Mayimbe recently did a bit of digging on a Star Wars fan site called Obi Wants To Know Me, where a Lucasfilm employee, Spencer, is looking for fan reaction to a recent casting rumor going around about Rachel Hurd-Wood and Alex Pettyfer (see below) -- and hey, look who Spencer is using as his news link! (To be fair, the rumor actually started at Latino-Review.)
So what's the big deal about some guy's forum post? Well, for starters, Obi Wants To Know Me is an official Lucasfilm site founded by Lucasfilm. More importantly, though, it's a site specifically created to get feedback from hardcore Star Wars fans.
Cinema Blend did a bit of research of their own and discovered that Spencer (the guy who wrote the forum post) is likely the Director of Consumer Insights at Lucasfilm, which means this dude is probably legit.
Does this mean Hurd-Wood and Pettyfer are actually in talks for Episode VII? Possibly. If nothing else, Lucasfilm is at least seriously considering it (assuming the post is real).
Granted, we're not founded by Lucasfilm, but we do know one IGN reader that may have some pull, so feel free to give us your thoughts in the Comments below!
