Microsoft will be hosting an event on September 23rd in New York City, where the company is expected to unveil its latest Surface tablets. According to The Verge, Microsoft will debut Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 to replace the current Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets.
Recent reports suggest that the Windows 8.1-powered Surface Pro 2 will feature a new Intel Haswell processor, 8GB of RAM, improved battery specs, and a "refined," two-position kickstand. Like the Surface RT, the Surface 2 will run Windows RT, and will reportedly be equipped with a higher resolution, 1080p display and Nvidia's Tegra 4 processor.
Neither tablet is said to feature brand new hardware designs, although a new Power Cover keyboard attachment with a built-in battery will purportely be introduced at the same event.
Considering the Surface RT's abysmal performance in the market, it will be interesting to see what Microsoft does to make its entry-level Windows tablet more appealing, especially in terms of price.
