In a recent interview, Atari founder Nolan Bushnell said that Nintendo is in a "very difficult position," and could be on a "path to irrelevance."
When asked about parallels between Atari's failed Jaguar console and the Wii U, Bushnell denied any connections, telling BBC that Atari was "abused by corporate charlatans" in 1983 after a "glorious beginning."
When asked what he is optimistic about in the games industry, Bushnell said he is excited for the Oculus Rift, the virtual reality headset. Although Bushnell is pessimistic about Nintendo in the long run, others in the games industry are eager to support the Wii U, publishers and independent developers alike.
